St James the Less is a Roman Catholic Primary School located in Rawtenstall, Lancashire.
Browns were appointed by Rossendale Borough Council to construct the new primary school. The new facilities constructed by Browns provided state of the art teaching accommodation for the staff and students, in addition to refectory and catering facilities.
Browns also undertook full external landscaping and construction of the playground. The school was completed on within budget and on time for the start of the new school year.
Construction Challenges:
The site for construction was a heavily sloping site and hence created challenges for the construction team with respect to access to the site for deliveries and coordination of construction activities on the site. The team also worked with the local community to ensure that any traffic, noise and dust from the site was kept to a minimum and local community concerns were accommodated.
